Why waste time tweeting when you can just post it on Eventsburgh.com?

Social-media

We recently came across to an article titled “Social Media is "Useless Crap" but 46% of your customers use it” which talks about how people adopt to a new social media and why it is important to start using social media (you can speculate that point from the article’s title).

It is pretty difficult for many businesses and organizations to understand the importance of utilizing social media. Utilizing it to market a product or service seem to consume a lot of time without much return. It requires a certain commitment to learn and understand how the whole “Social media marketing” process work.

Before starting Eventsburgh.com, we (Eventsburgh team) also felt social media marketing was just a myth, it’s a hype created by all those tech savvy people, we thought it was not real, until we started experimenting various ways to interact and communicate with other users on social media sites such as Twitter and Facebook. The key as it turned out, is to have a conversation….. Plain and simple. Let us give you an example.

Traditionally, when it comes to contact / networking with new clients or potential customers, people would need to identify where they are, how to contact them, and plan the action of contacting them. Social media allows you to carry out all three with few mouse clicks.

For example, if you run a shop specialized in athletic shoes and want to tell your potential customers about your special promotion, a traditional way could be printing flyers, standing in the middle of a street where a lot of people pass by and handing them the flyer.

With social media on the other hand, you can search for certain keywords such as “Sports” or “Tennis” on Twitter and start a conversation with people who mention those keywords. What kind of conversation? It could be anything!!! if someone says “tennis match I just saw on TV was so cool” you can start chatting with “Which tennis match?”. They may reply” XYZ tournament, I love ABC player”, and you can follow up with “Did you know she wares XYZ shoes? check it out httx:myshoeshop.com It’s also on sale!!” and make them jump to your site. (This example is a little extreme but you get the idea).

There are also other ways to play the social media marketing game and one of them is to utilize a site like ours – Eventsburgh.com. We utilize multiple social media accounts (Twitter, Facebook, Myspace, Linkedin etc) to notify newly added events as well as upcoming events. We also have accounts that are specific in category as well as specific in location. We are constantly adding new followers and fans. On top of all these, we also send out weekly event newsletters.

Can’t bother creating your own followers and fans? Just post your events on our site and we will spread the words for you to thousands of people.

-How / why did your organization start? (Background, History)

I personally got tired of the negative news and started the PositivelyPittsburghLive Talkcast as a way to spread the Good News About Pittsburgh, all of the news that falls through the cracks.  I discovered TalkShoe in 2007 and decided to use it to do TalkCasts.  The format is fifteen minutes of news and a roundtable discussion between several guests on a Core Topic each week about Pittsburgh, what makes it special, unique and sustainable as the Most Liveable City. Originally the Talkcast was designed to market Pittsburgh, it’s culture, non-profits and positive aspects.  It now has a pdf magazine once a month recap and also a turning page and has become an icon for good news about Pittsburgh and the tri-state hub around it.

Listeners wanted more than one day a week so I started the online magazine which is now a PittsburghInternet Radio and TV network where businesses and non-profits can buy their own channels.  The network is fed by both rss feeds and original uploaded content from channel owners.

-What is your organization’s objective? (What does it do?)

Dreamweaver Marketing Associates owns the PositivelyPittsburghLive talkcast and the online magazine, PositivelyPittsburghLiveMagazine.com  The goal of both is to create a presence for Pittsburgh which showcases our best and brightest stars and elements about the city that the mainstream terrestrial and print media misses.

-How long has the organization been around?

Since February of 2007 for PositivelyPittsburghLive Talkcast and August of 2009 for PositivelyPittsburghLiveMagazine.com
